Ana Campa
Ana Campa is a Full Professor at the University of São Paulo, Brazil, in the School of Pharmaceutical Science and member of the Academy of Sciences of the State of São Paulo, with training in Biochemistry, Cellular Biology and Physiopathology. Her lab interests are focused on the decisive role inflammatory responses play in cancer and obesity. Specially, inflammation influences the extensive and dynamic crosstalk of immune with cancer cells and the immune surveillance. Human leukocytes, skin cells and melanomas cultures and co-cultures are used in the experimental designs used in her laboratory. Current work is focused in identifying the routes of tryptophan metabolism contributing to the differentiation of immune cells and active on cancer. The hypothesis is that tryptophan metabolism generates molecules involved in the cross talking among stromal, immune and cancer cells.
